The Watercolor Trend

Doing a little search I noticed that the current trend is watercolor. It's heavily incorporated in the modern designs including art and graphic design. So, I decided to give it a try and watch the result.

Instead of using the brush I went for a sponge. It gave a very good result in my opinion since it added a slight texture to each stroke compared to the smooth stroke of the brush.

I'll try this new technique of mine with real paintings rather than an abstract.

Weekend

How did I spent my weekend?

The last weekend was one of the busiest weekends in my life. In fact, the past few weeks were a little hectic for me. I had too much work on my hands but so happy that I was able to finish most of it.

Even in the weekend I can't relax without having my notebook and pen at least. It's the perfect time for me to do my analytics and plan for the next weeks. When it came to work though, I didn't do much but surely am catching up these days.

Quick Gift Wrapping Paper

Quick Gift Wrapping Paper

I used my inkjet printer to create a quick and easy gift wrapping paper. Instead of printing on a plain white paper I chose Ivory Parchment Paper. Its texture and ivory color gives a better result than the normal white paper. I was looking for something different and that's why I went with this.

Before printing, I took a moment to look at my own patterns. It'd been two since I started creating patterns and sold them so I have a huge library with many patterns to choose from. However, there is a specific style and color I was looking for.

Choosing the suitable patterns, I printed them and cut off the white borders (if there is any). Then, I brought my small box and wrapped it with the printed A4 paper. Since it was a small box I didn't need bigger paper. When I was done, I decorated with a white paper (I just cut a stripe from the white paper and wrapped it around the wrapping paper) and a metallic blue and gold ribbon.

And this is the way to wrap a small gift box quickly at home!

New Logo Design

Logo Design

About a week ago I got an order for a new logo design. The moment I ended the phone call I started the brainstorming process. Certainly, I took notes when I talked to the customer writing snippets as I asked questions. Those snippets were what helped me during the designing process. When I first began working on logos I found myself not knowing exactly what to ask and what to keep on mind. I used to ask few questions that when I began working on the logo I realized that I didn't ask enough questions to enable me to work precisely. With time I knew exactly what I needed to do when a customer approaches me.

To be honest, logos were a huge obstacle to me in the past. Although I practiced graphic design since the late 90s but I never worked professionally. I took it as a mere hobby. That's why when I decided to open up my own graphic design studio I had to learn everything from the start. Never in my life did I create a whole image or design myself instead I used to trace and copy other images. But since opening my small business I learned how to create my own designs and drawings. It wasn't easy at first but now I find it a lot easier.
